Some places invoke that sense of wild and rugged. The Radnor Forest for us is one such place.
Surprisingly it is a major watershed of the Wye
These are distant Wye waters originating high up in the hills and mountains of what is essentially the Cambrians. You wouldn't consider it such being so close to the Herefordshire border but here lay a series of deep sided ravines, high tops and plantations amid wild creatures such as deer and short eared owl the photo of which was taken on top of Great Rhos (660 M 2,170 Ft) whilst there. Yet again the Radnor Forest surprised us with its wild country and 'Distant Waters'.
